Race Background

The Bognor Prom 10K Road Race has been staged every year since 1995, and attracts serious club runners from all over the South of England, as well as individuals and families with no club allegiance. All are equally welcome. It is a major event for Bognor Regis, a day of challenge and personal achievement for runners and a spectacle for the public who line the route.

The race would not be possible without the help of our many sponsors and helpers. Many are acknowledged below, but particular thanks are due to the Bognor Regis Observer, which has been closely involved with the event since the early days. We are delighted to welcome The Aldingbourne Trust as charity partner for 2010 and we hope that the run will raise significant sums of money for the charity as well as other good causes close to the hearts of our runners. The Club of Bognor Hotham will increase all money raised by the runners, through its top-up scheme, and always gives thousands of pounds to charities from the event.

The organisers offer regular training sessions through Road Runners, a small but keen group of runners who meet every Thursday at 7pm at West Park, Bognor Regis. Anyone wishing to join them will be welcome, regardless of ability. just turn up.

The Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham and the Club of Bognor are part of the worldwide organisation known as International. This worldwide fellowship unites men and women in the ideal of service. Both clubs provide most of the 85 marshals needed to manage the road race. Internationally, Rotary has been responsible for raising millions of pounds for such projects as eliminating polio throughout the world, and responding to major emergencies.

The Bognor Prom 10K is a major part of the Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham.s annual programme of community service and fund-raising

Information for Runners

It starts by West Park in Aldwick (with extensive free car parking for competitors), follows the Bognor Regis Esplanade, continues through Felpham and returns along the sea front to finish in West Park. Height undulation is less than two metres; water is available at 5.5K and at the finish. A rolling road closure operates where public highways are used. The course is marshalled throughout, allowing for a maximum race time limit of 90 minutes.

Toilets are available, but there are no changing or bag storage facilities. The course is regrettably unsuitable for wheelchairs and competitors are not allowed to run with dogs or be accompanied by cyclists or other wheeled carriages.

Chip timing is an established feature of the race. It relies on all competitors bringing their supplied chip with them. All chips must be returned. Every competitor who provides a valid mobile phone number will receive a SMS text of their finishing time. Full results will be posted on:
