2020 Race Cancellation

STATEMENT

Date: 30th March 2020

Bognor 10k 2020 event cancellation due to COVID-19

It is with disappointment that due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have decided to cancel the Bognor Prom 10k event, which was due to take place on 17th May 2020.  We can assure you that we did not take this decision lightly. Prior to making the final decision, we did consider whether postponing the event to later in the year would be viable, however due to a great number of other events having been postponed, it has meant that the race calendar for 2020 has become busy and too compressed for the end of the season.

Our priority is to protect the health and wellbeing of everyone involved as well as limit further expenditure.  At this point, we would like to thank our amazing volunteers, partners and sponsors for their commitment and continued support.

Our aim is to organise another great event in 2021.

All things considered, we would like to offer our current 2020 entrants a choice with their registration and entry fee as follows:

Bognor Prom 10k & Wheelchair/Disabled entrants

  1. A full deferral to 2021. Date tbc. This means we would transfer your entry to next year.

  2. You can opt for a part refund of £10 back to you from your original entry fee.  If you wish to take part in 2021, you would have to re-register.

Fun Run entrants

  1. Cancellation of your 2020 registration, and a part refund of £2.50 back to you from your original entry fee.

We would ask that ALL entrants use the form below to indicate their preferred option by 24th April 2020.

If we do not hear from you by then, we will assume that you have chosen to defer your 2021 registration and your entry fee will not be refunded.

Refunds will be processed shortly after the 27th April 2020.

We apologise for disappointing those concerned, but the health and safety of all involved is paramount at this time. As ever, we will continue to work tirelessly to bring Bognor Regis another major event in 2021.

** *The deadline has now passed and the day of the race has also passed. All requested refunds have been processed and all remaining entrants have been automatically deferred to the Bognor Prom 10k 2021 race. ***

2020 Race Cancellation FAQ's

How do I defer my 2020 entry to 2021?

Please complete the request form above to let us know you want to defer to the 2021 race.

Why are you not processing refunds until after the 27th April?

Rather than make multiple payments to our payment platform, and incur additional fees, we would prefer to collate all race entry refund requests first and then make a single payment to cover all of the requested refunds.

Why are we only being offered a partial refund of £10?

We have already made a number of financial commitments for the 2020 race and these expenses have had to be honoured. The Bognor Prom 10k is a charity event and as such all proceeds are distributed to charity. We do not have any "retained" profits to call from to cover the 2020 expenses.

If I defer my entry to 2021 do I have to pay again?

No. By opting to defer your entry to 2021 there are no further costs to you.

Did you consider a postponement of the race?

The committee did consider this option. However we felt that as many races were being delayed into October the race calendar was becoming very busy. The race is organised by a small committee of volunteers and usually by October we would be well into the planning for the 2021 race and as such we could not put on two events to the very high standrards we set ourselves in such a a short space of time. So we devided to cancel so that we could then focus on returning in 2021 with a Bognor Prom 10k of the quality you have come to expect from us.

I missed the deadline to get in touch what happens now?

We have processed all refunds received up to the 16th May 2020. All remaning entrants have been transferred to the 2021 race (i.e Deferred). Emails indicating the status of your entry have been sent out to the email address provded on the registerd entry. Your entry is now goverened under the race entry Terms & Conditions.
